my life lately has become pretty hilarious. if it isn't thirsty thursdays at joes, then its a birthday party with more attendees from india than the u.s. i was explaining to my mom the other day that i often feel like you do when you trip, but you have no one around to laugh it off with you. i wish i had someone here who knew me, because they would probably laugh at most of the things i do or say in these new situations.
i know my last posting was a little on the deb downer side, but friday was hopeful because i met up with some girls for lunch. i called a bridgeway friend, and forced her (politely, of course) to give me a friend to call. i made lunch plans with the name i was given, and she brought another girl along. i felt like was going on a blind date at first. i wasn't sure if i needed to put a flower on my shirt so she could identify me...but both of the girls are pretty fun and go with the flow so it was a great breath of fresh air. little did they know i would continue to call them everyday to remind them i need to be their friend:) friday night they invited me to the international students welcome back party. this party was almost as packed as joe's only minus the alcohol and with many more people groups. it was fun, but again, strange when you know only 2 people. it's also strange to be here for back to school time because everyone keeps running into friends and catching up. even though the night was completely overwhelming, i met many new people and hopefully will remember their names to avoid uncomfortable moments in the future.
last night i was invited to a birthday party. one of the girls from friday's lunch turns 20 today, (yes, i'm forcing 19 year olds to be my friend) and she had a big party at midnight to celebrate. what i didn't know was that my new friend loves india and is one of only 3 americans that live in her apartment complex (the other two are her roommates). the party was about 75% indian students and they played some really freaking cool indian party music. they really know how to dance, too. i thought maybe they just busted it out for the welcome back party..but no way. and they don't let you get away with just standing around either. lucky for me, i love dancing. this was one of the situations i was referring too, where it would be really funny to be with a friend who knew me well. i met a handful more of people, mostly names i can't pronounce let alone remember, but enjoyable. well, awkward mostly, but at times enjoyable. i was able to snag some phone numbers and now have more people to call everyday and annoy.
what i really need now is a job. i wake up too early, and get bored..end up being too productive and really have nothing left to do. i actually hope my classes start getting difficult!

Hiiiilarious. I can't wait for you to test out these waters so that when (and I do mean WHEN) I come see you, the awkward situations--and uncontrollable laughter--will abound.
