i am absolutely not in kansas anymore...

i know it's a cliche thing to say when you move from the lovely state..but for those of you who have moved away from our flatter than a pancake homeland...you know exactly the feeling i'm talking about.

oklahoma adventure lesson #1:
do NOT wake up from a nap and go directly to walmart on a saturday in a town you do not know. panic will quickly ensue and you will wonder what the hell you where thinking the moment you step inside. this lesson probably should have been learned prior to yesterday, but generally i avoid walmart...and in this case it was the only store i knew how to successfully locate. needless to say i walked out with about a 1/15 of what i needed.

oklahoma adventure lesson #2:
why the hell would you where a black t-shirt in august? besides hiding the sweat you are accumulating..there is no sane reason why this should ever happen. it's 105 degrees you fool.

oklahoma adventure lesson #3 (and perhaps...the most important):
NEVER rent a house that has been previously inhabited by drunken cowboys. it doesn't matter how nice the place may be...you will be welcomed by softball sized holes in almost every wall, bathtubs that contain black filth that WILL NOT GO AWAY, pink stains on the carpets, chipped wood, chipped tile, a cracked up microwave, and cigarette butts in the front yard. it must have been a hell of a going out party.

i am confident my lessons will continue to pile up...but in the mean time i will finish this familiar cup of coffee (thank you panera) and fiddle with my dad's on-loan GPS in order to find a grocery store....and hopefully my house.

p.s. i'm not so sure how i feel about living in a gated community. i got scared to go anywhere last night in fear that i would have no idea how to get the gate back open...

Wow...

Good lessons to learn.

Drunken cowboys... Aggieville taught me a thing or two about that.

I am glad you posted... keep it up.
