with quite a bit of a rough go on friday...for both myself and my much anticipated guests, i was sliiiiiight nervous the weekend was going to hell in a handbasket. too harsh of words?? then you don't know how bad of a day it was!
BUUUUUUUUUT the Lord is so good. my best friends finally arrived (albeit 2 1/2 hours later than scheduled) and the beauty of our weekend began to reveal itself. we woke to a beautiful day, despite the forecasting of rain, and started the day out right with a brazilian brunch. tropical delight anyone?? for sara, this answer was YES!
i noticed something while i tried to tour the girls around and talk about how great okc is...and what i noticed was, this place really IS great! i'm not even lying to them! i think when you "showcase" your home to those that are unfamiliar, it allows you to see it from fresh eyes, and taste the goodness of the treasures you have found, as if it were the first time. i have had several "firsts" or "adventures" since moving to this city, and for this reason i adore it. the hidden store with beautiful knicknacks, the tucked away coffee shop with friendly smiles and warm decor, and even...your very own home complete with a quaint balcony to drink your morning coffee and feel the morning sun hit your skin.
it's so easy to get wrapped up with the to-do lists, and planning my entire future...so when i stop and allow myself to get sentimental about what i have and where i have been, i feel serene..and peaceful. because i have always been cared for. blessings surround me. if you are a little unsure of where you are living, perhaps even feeling an itch to move on...i encourage you to take around some outsiders and do a little hometown showcase yourself. you may find yourself adoring, or at least finding more appreciation in where you are. and while your at it, realize that you are there for a reason, and ask the Lord...what is significant about this time....and this place?

You are so great! OKLAHOMAN delight is more like it--and not just the balcony breakfast. And even though I was a total basketcase Friday night it was TOOOOOTALLY worth it.
I like your thoughts about being present.
And I would also like to confess that my dinner last night was sour gummy worms...don't judge me.
Steph! It's Whitney! I found your blog randomly...
Anyway, I know what you mean. I'm starting to fall in love with the city. And balconies.
Hope you have a beautiful day.
