hold the phone...

i'm moving in three weeks! this is nuts. i mean really nuts. i haven't given much thought to this truth for the past couple months. and as of recent, i'm beginning to realize that it's not too long now.

but, let's be honest for a moment. i can't get through too much in life without planning most of it out. a serious weakness. i mean...i just do the planning, i'm okay when the plan does work. i just can't handle going into something without having put any thought to it at all. the plan can get totally screwed up and truthfully, i don't mind it because then i get the joy of making a new plan.

take for example...the fact that i'm moving to oklahoma. not in my plan. i wanted tennessee. then i wanted south carolina. then tennessee again..but never oklahoma. but turns out i'm sad to move away from everyone i know, so oklahoma is working out well.

today i planned my room. the layout i mean. where my bed will go. my desk. my bookself. i planned in my head how i would get the furniture in the truck. i planned my first dinner party with my fellow student dietitians. i emailed people about jobs. planning is fun.

i also really like spontaneity. i value it even. it's needed for one to keep their sanity. some of my favorite memories were things my friends and i did on a whim. sometimes when we actually follow the plans we've made..it's really boring. or it's a disappointment because you had it pictured as something so much better than it turned out to be. (not my room though, my room is going to be great.)

i told my dad today about plans my friends and i are making for the night before i leave. he told me what he told my sister sarah when she moved to texas, "it's only oklahoma. think of your ancestors. they had to get on boats and travel half way around the world." such a wise man. it's only oklahoma people. too bad it made my sister cry.


yep. not too long until i'm wearing cowboy boots and going off-roading with the townies. i hope i learn to lasso.
