happy derby day!

i love this time of year. the weather is beautiful, the flowers are blooming, and classes are nearing the end. not only does the first week in may bring a smile to the face of many...it also means it is time for the Kentucky Derby. this means derby pie, mint juleps, and the best horse race of the year...the run for the roses. if you didn't know, i am originally from louisville, kentucky: home to churchill downs. the love for horse racing is in my blood. (you should see our living room...) this 2 minute race invokes much passion and excitement deep into my soul.

this past spring break i traveled back to good ol' kentucky and this time, got a backstage tour of the downs. this included the jockey's quarters (the locker room, the sleeping porch, the silks room...so tight), as well as the millionare's row, the press box, the winner's circle, the twin spires, and more. this may not seem very significant for some, but for me, it was glorious.

so as the race gets underway here soon, i hope you are all able to enjoy. and if you have not before, i hope you will one day soon enjoy some derby pie and a mint julep..or two.

**quick note: in my last post i mentioned that the only noteworthy moment of my day was my suduko invoked injury. i would like to say that dinner prepared by taiwanese friends was much more significant. it was delicious...up until the soy pudding dessert.

p.s. anyone got any friends in tulsa? i might need some.

holy steph moore.
i mean not that you are holy, but i'm just thrilled to find you here.

it will give me a better way to stalk you when you leave me in a few weeks.
but i don't want to talk about it.

let's do talk about how controversial the derby was...did you hear that PETA wants the jockey of the filly that died suspended? ridiculous.

however, you are NOT ridiculous.
and i love you.

Steph... I had no idea you did this crap.

I think I am going to start doing it more frequently.

I am coming to Manhattan on Thursday... to soak up the sweet-ass scenery... er... not the scenery of sweet asses, but... you know what mean... trees and crap.

my family has made picks every year since 1995 when i picked thunder gulch to win. he's my all time favorite.

i picked big brown and won this year, but i can feel no joy or achievement from it because of eight belles. saddest story ever. sigh.
